Jesus

The teachings of Jesus, his deeds, death on the cross, and resurrection are at the center of the Christian faith.

Why did God send Jesus?

The Bible says that God created the world and the first human beings. However, Satan deceived people into disobeying God. As a result, man was separated from God, and the world He created was corrupted. As a result evil, imperfection, sin, sickness and death came into the world and people’s lives.

But God did not abandon people. He called Abraham (about 1800-1700 BC) in order to bring salvation for all mankind through the people of Israel. The prophets of Israel, like Isaiah (700 BC), predicted that it would happen when God comes as the Messiah-King to Israel.

Jesus’ message

Tese prophecies were fulfilled when God sent Jesus (about 5 BC-30 AD) into the world. Jesus was the Messiah-King.

Jesus said that the kingdom of God has arrived through His ministry into this sin-corrupted world. It was seen in a number of ways. People who were separated from God, found Him through Jesus. They found the loving Heavenly Father and their sins were forgiven. The sick and wounded were healed. Those bound by evil powers found freedoom. The poor and marginalized were helped. Enemies forgave each other, and they reconciled. Does it sound good? It is the gospel, the good news of Jesus! Today you can find a lot of people in churches, who are able tell you how Jesus met them, saved them, healed and delivered them.

The meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection

Jesus had His mission – to die nailed to the a cross. The death of Jesus was not a martyr’s death, but had greater significance. Jesus took upon Himself our iniquities, the sins that separate us from God. He took upon Himself the punishment, which would have otherwise fallen upon us.
